Monday, 20 February 2006 - Fanny

Hehehe ;)

Saturday, 25 February 2006 - More rugga

More Super 14 at Suncorp Stadium tonight (I managed to get my ex-boss's members' tickets for this one). This week: Queensland Reds vs. Auckland Blues. Being a Kiwi I had to go for Auckland for a change ;)

Aside from the first 20 minutes in which the Blues scored two tries and the Reds one, the game was pretty boring! The kicking was crap from both sides, and every opportunity they got the Reds would throw a major Hollywood! I lost count of the number of times the Blues were standing around waiting while two or three Reds were laying around! However, there was a great bit of biffo right in front of me! Look at that - shirt pulled over his head and everything!

There's one for the pool room. Anyway, after the bad kicking, Hollywoods, fighting, and raunchy cheerleaders, the Blues came out on top by just one point.

Monday, 27 February 2006 - Careful, pop

Here's what happens when you cross the road without looking, or don't look where you're driving while reversing. A guy in his sixties got bowled by the Suzuki (driven by the guy in red), which then stopped on his ankle! The driver got out to see what all the commotion was about while around ten people ran up, lifted the rear of the Suzuki off the road, and pulled poor grandad out!

It's amazing what a seemingly minor event attracts: three ambulances, two fire engines, three boys in blue (and a girl in blue), a TRU (Traffic Response Unit), and about forty bystanders (myself included of course ;) When I was taken out and nearly mowed down by an on-coming van I only got two ambulances, two cops, and a drive-by from the fire crew hehe.

I hear Coke is just as effective.

Tuesday, 28 February 2006 - Love those figure skaters!
I thought I'd do a little dedication to mark the end of the Torino Winter Olympics. My favourite thing about the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games is the bloopers and fuck ups. Some of the best I saw were during the figure skating. Enjoy (I did)!

Owwwww!

Arrgghhhhh!

Ohhhhh! (I think she enjoyed this one.)

This was for her boyfriend in the audience.

She knew this was about to hurt...

...And no doubt so did she hahaha!

Wednesday, 1 March 2006 - Pink

I don't suppose there are any entomologists reading this who could tell me what the hell this little guy is? He was wandering around my desk near the flyer on the right. I've never seen a bug this colour - bright pink, so I'm wondering if maybe it can change colour to camouflage itself and was sitting on the pink flyer for a while?

Friday, 3 March 2006 - More fanny

I didn't take this photo (it was an email forward), but I wish I had ;)

Sunday, 5 March 2006 - Brisbane International Motor Show
For those who don't have the slightest interest in cars, you might want to skip this bit. The Brisbane International Motor Show is an annual ten-day event held in the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Being the car freak that I am, I had to go :)

Cars cars cars :) Everything, from the Jap's including Nissan's 3.5-litre, V6, 290HP 350Z...

Honda's 2-litre, 190HP Type S Integra...

Mitsubishi's 2-litre, turbo, 280HP Lancer Evolution...

Subaru's 2-litre, turbo, 350HP WRC Impreza!

To the exotics including the Lamborghini's 6-litre, V12, 575HP Murciélago...

Ferrari's 5.7 litre, V12, 540HP 612 Scaglietti...

Porsche's 3.6-litre, straight 6, 400HP 911 GT3...

Audi's 3.2-litre, V6, 255HP Quattro...

Pagani's mighty 7.3-litre, V12, 550HP Zonda - I've only ever seen one of these on Top Gear. Apparently only 25 of these puppies are produced each year and are worth well over AU$500,000!

Then there's the more ponsy cars including the Jags...

Beamers...

Bentleys...

And the Mercs.

There were also several old racers...

...Including this Holden.

Even The Wiggles made an appearance in their Big Red Car ;)

And of course there was the classic Ford versus Holden atmosphere :)

Ford's Falcon XR8...

...XR6...

...and Ute...

...versus Holden's HSV Clubsport...

...Commodore...

...and Ute. Similar, but different, eh ;)

Not to be outdone by each other, Ford had this huge monster of a 4X4 on display (which would easily fill anybody's rear-view mirror)...

...And Holden put this shiny beauty on display. The Holden Efijy (effigy of the FJ) is a concept car paying homage to the popular 1953 Holden FJ. Under the very shiny hood is a very shiny supercharged 6-litre V8.

I noticed that "Spider" or "Spyder" seems a common name for car models. From the 4.2-litre, V8, 390HP Maserati Spyder...

To the 4.3-litre, V8, 490HP Ferrari Spider...

To this Australian-built beast - the 5.7-litre, V8, 450HP Carbontech Redback Spyder.

As well as hundreds of cars on display, there were plenty of engines too, from Subaru's 2.5-litre turbocharged boxer...

To Audi's V8...

and several working models.

Cut-away of a Bullet supercharger.

Aside from the cars there were plenty of other things on show, such as motorbikes...

From Harley's...

To Suzuki's...

To Choppers.

Even the humble scooter got a showing off.

Other interesting sights included this paint job...

This Subaru 4X4 chopped in half...

And bitches - always hot bitches at car shows. I mean ladies! ;)

After wandering around for a few hours surrounded by gorgeous and expensive vehicles, I went back to my bike and cycle home. I miss owning a car!
