Madame Tussauds wax museum. Besides London, there are also branches in Amsterdam, Hong Kong, Las Vegas, New York, Shanghai, and of course, Hollywood. The wax figures are incredibly realistic, each taking a number of months to complete.

"I am sick of these mother fuckin' tourists in my mother fuckin' museum!"

Any guesses at what Kylie Minogue's favourite sexual position is? ;)

"I'll be back!"

"I'm back!"

"Ow my back!"

Dirty ol' Marilyn.

Orlando, and one for Mum ;)

One for the Poms and the Yanks.

One for the Aussies.

One for the Krauts ;)

The museum has a chamber of horrors which is also very realistic, and bloody gross hehe.

There's also a cinema where the screen is the entire dome roof (so there is something to see in every direction you look, very cool). This eight-minute movie is aliens describing what they think a celebrity is, all in the style of Nick Park's Creature Comforts.

Camden Market. Camden is an amazing place and a very popular hang-out for Goths and so forth (and then there's me wandering around in board shorts and t-shirt). Camden is packed with a variety of colourful markets, shops, restaurants, bars, pubs, clubs, theatres and cinemas.

The market had some bloody funny t-shirts. I was very tempted to buy some but my backpack was full enough as it was.

Looking along the main street of Camden. And with that, I packed my bulging bag again for the return to Edinburgh.

On the approach to Edinburgh airport.

I came away after a week thinking that London was the most logical choice to settle down job-wise, and because of my preference for large, busy cities. A lot of people can't stand the place, but I really liked it. Maybe if I lived there for a while I'd change my tune, but from what I saw of it over the week it's great. However, with a five-year ancestry visa in hand I've got plenty of time to move to London later if I feel like it, and although Edinburgh is tiny in comparison (it's only about the size of Christchurch and with a similar population), there's not a lot I can fault it on and it is a lovely place. So at this stage I'm thinking of staying in Edinburgh for the time being. which meant that upon my arrival it was back to the real world. Job-hunting time!
