Saturday, 11 October 2008 - Epping Forest

Hahaha, welcome to Essex, or just 'sex' as some intelligent English git prefers.

And welcome to Epping Forest. At 6,000 acres (24 square kilometres) this is the largest public open space in the London area (although half of it is in Essex - north east of London).

The forest is a popular spot with the bikies apparently. I didn't really fit in here - mine has no motor ;)

Nice! I could put another dozen shots like this up but I'm sure you get the idea. This is a great spot for walking, running, biking, horse riding, and so on. It was apparently formed in 8000 BC after the last ice age, and contains areas of grassland, rivers, bogs, ponds, oh and pubs - good pubs too!

Thursday, 16 October 2008 - Beer!

We've got a great little liquor store just down the road that sells a myriad of random beers, including these little gems: Chili Beer, from Mexico!

Complete with a big chili pepper!

From Belgium, some English dude who looks like he's off to kill the Scottish.

Also from Belgium, this dodgy looking chap who appears to be planning on doing something against this woman's will ;)

Saturday, 18 October 2008 - Never a dull moment

In between the 500 daily sirens that scream past, the subwoofers vibrating the street from cars waiting at the traffic lights, the drunks yelling and fighting and falling over themselves most nights, and the Hare Krishnas making a song and dance, there's never a dull moment out my front window! The dude on the right appears to have been left behind, or just wasn't in the mood to sing today.

Sunday, 19 October 2008 - Paris, almost!

I almost spent the day in Paris today on the bike, but no such luck.

The Eurostar is a high-speed train line with several trips a day between London and Paris (and Brussels in Belgium). Katie's mate won them a couple of free return tickets to Paris valid for today only, so I figured I'd use that as an excuse to buy my own tickets, take the bike through and go nuts. However, I left it a bit late to book the tickets though and they shot up to £400! :(

I'll keep it in mind for another day.

Tuesday, 21 October 2008 - Man love!

This turned up in the daily pile of mail for my building - Miss Manlove hehe. Better than Mr Manlove I guess;)

Thursday, 23 October 2008 - Fantasic Contraptions!
Bored? Try this, and work on your problem-solving skills while you're at it: Fantastic Contraption.

Saturday, 25 October 2008 - Winter's coming...

Just been stabbed? Head this way.

This is out the back of Battersea Power Station in southwest London at the site of the first Freesports Freeze, some skiing and snowboarding festival thingee.

I'm too cheap to pay the £30 entrance fee so I (along with many others) just enjoyed the free view from the street hehe.

This is how most of them landed too - headfirst ;)

While enjoying the carnage on the snow there was suddenly some more on the road just behind me. This Audi reversed while in a traffic jam to let a car out of a side street while the red thing was, well actually I don't know what the red thing was trying to do, but this was the result - bang! Spot the 'Wedding Special' bus in the background, with many drunk and amused spectators on the upper deck hehe.

Tuesday, 28 October 2008 - Winter is coming, again

Despite this being the sunny and warm picture just three weekends ago down the road from my flat...

...this is the scene now hehe. It has been absolutely freezing today, and at 7pm the white stuff starting pelting down.

A few hours later and this is out the back of my flat. Everything looks orange due to the reflection of the city's lights off the low cloud then reflecting off the snow - pretty!

The view from my bedroom window.

Wednesday, 29 October 2008 - 74 years

This is apparently the first time in 74 years that Britain has had snow in October, not since 1934 back when Hitler became Führer of Germany, and Alcatraz first opened its cells.

It was a nice safe walk down the hill to the train station hehe.

I was quietly hoping the trains would all be cancelled - in this country it doesn't take much for that to happen. The 'wrong' kind of rain, the 'wrong' type of leaves on the track during autumn, any excuse will do to cancel the trains but sadly it was not to be hehe.

Friday, 31 October 2008 - Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween all!

Sunday, 2 November 2008 - The London Underground

Halloween or not, only in London, and only on the Tube ;)

Watching him tying to turn the pages was hilarious hahaha!

Monday, 3 November 2008 - Court, take 2

Back in beautiful old Edinburgh today to attend court regarding my punch up back in April (my first appearance was in August, but Lisa couldn't be there and the case was adjourned until today). All witnesses turned up this time though (myself, Lisa, and the fella who chased the prick who hit me while calling the police), and after another long wait the prick ended up pleading guilty and was fined £500 - not a lot but he's bum with no income so there wasn't a lot else they could do and it'll probably be carried out by way of community service anyway. Afterwards I left a completely cloudless Edinburgh sky and returned to a completely saturated London, lovely.

Saturday, 8 November 2008 - Even in St Albans

Even little St Albans, home to 50,000'ish, isn't free of terrorism it would seem. Some time this morning there was an explosion near the city's main train station, and the fuzz closed off three major roads and evacuated nearby residents and businesses as a precaution. I haven't been able to find a lot of info but it sounds like the police later discovered a "suspected explosive device". Those evacuated were allowed to return this evenin, and that's all I've heard, and based on the few people I spoke to that's all anybody seems to know. Just kids playing with firecrackers I reckon - I imagine they get pretty bored around here.

Wednesday, 12 November 2008 - Obama-mania
It's only been a week since Obama was elected but already some lonely chap with nothing better to do has created this: Super Obama World!
