We were up bright and early Saturday morning and ahhh clear blue sky!

We set out on a 15-mile (24kms) course to the southwest of Ambleside and got plenty more of the stunning landscapes.

Aside from the actual cycle tracks, a lot of the roads we followed were just like these - little quite back-country roads. Pretty :)

After a long haul of hilly terrain, we made it to Hawkshead and were getting right into Beatrix Potter land.

Beatrix Potter was born in 1866, died in 1943, and is renowned for creating the Peter Rabbit series of books along with all those other animals. She lived only a short distance from Hawkshead.

After lunch and a short ride down the road we were in Beatrix Potter's hood of Near Sawrey...

...and her humble abode in Hill Top.

For those familiar with Peter Rabbit, this is the garden he played around in (I think).

And I'm assuming that's the gate under which Peter Rabbit snuck into Mr McGregor's garden and ate all his crops hahaha, little bastard!

It's been years since I last read Peter Rabbit, and so figured I'd better brush up on it :)

After leaving the wonderful world of Peter Rabbit we carried on through more little towns...

Jen tackled a few more hills...

And we eventually made it back to Windermere Lake, not far from where we caught the ferry yesterday.

The track went along the lake shore and I had bloody great fun ripping it up!

When I got bored of that I ventured off-track to see what else I could find.

It didn't always work out too well though ;)

After a while the track veered away from the lake and ended up at Wray Castle (actually a private house built in 1840). The 'castle' itself is not open to the public but the surrounding grounds are, and are nice to wander (or bike ;) around. As you can see, I'm in dire need of sunshine!

Sounds good!

After a pretty decent ride we were greeted with an Easter egg in our room - nice! :)

When we went out for dinner the place had become bloody busy with people and traffic jams everywhere!

There were some nice cars around too. Several WRX's, this Ferrari...

...a couple of Supra's...

...and about a million motorbikes.

Jen got a chocolate milkshake with her dinner, and it was so damn good I ordered one of my own with extra chocolate and ice cream (so much so that they put the excess in a separate glass hehe). Mmmmm I love milkshakes!
