From the Eiffel Tower I left central Paris and headed southwest. I've no idea where any of this is really as I just followed the RouteYou.com route on my GPS, which took me all over the show - both on road and off.

At one stage it put me on a path out the back of people's houses hehe.

Nice day for sitting around with your rod in the water :)

It was cool to see a bit of Parisian suburbia. No prizes for architecture though!

Eventually I reached Versailles (with something of a traffic problem itself), a city of close to 100,000 about 17kms outside of central Paris.

Versailles is most famous for the Château de Versailles (Palace of Versailles). I'm planning to bring Mum and Jared (my brother) here in September, and so didn't bother joining the throng of tourists and going in.

From Versailles I took a circular route back into Paris, via some cute little suburbs, and some sort of random parade that left a mess of confetti in its wake.

80kms for the day, and I was bloody hungry. I took the Metro back to the Champs-Élysées and got some grub at one of the many road-side restaurants along there, and happened to be seated next to a bunch of Kiwis (we're everywhere :)

Spot the darkies loitering around the Metro station, hounding everyone for money I think . Right after I took this shot, two police scooters stopped at the traffic lights nearby, and this bunch briskly walked off. I'm not a racist (although I do enjoy a good racist joke as much as the next guy), but these arseholes do nothing to help the image of the black man in these parts.
