Èze is a small medieval village east of Nice perched high on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean Sea some 400m below. It's a really charming little spot with many shops, galleries, restaurants and so forth that attracts a lot of tourists (and honeymooners apparently). Èze is home to around 2,000 folk, and Bono (lead singer of U2) apparently owns a villa here along with U2's lead guitarist.

More spices - mmmmm!

Not long after leaving Èze we ran into some fun. I brought the GPS from my bike to guide us around the country (bloody life saver!), and had told it to avoid highways hoping that it might lead us along nicer coastal roads. Instead it really did do everything to keep us off highways including taking us down a some random narrow track with jagged rock sticking out from the hillside, one of which I smacked with the front tyre. This was the result hehe. This all wasted about an hour which meant we had to abandon the planned trip across the border into Italy.

After we failed to find the campsite we'd organised, this ended up being was our accommodation for the second night - a hostel right on the Mediterranean coast in Cap d'Ali, just on the Monaco border. Nice!

The view from our room!

In both Cap D'Ali and Monaco we noticed these icons on the road and on street signs to indicate walking paths and trails etc. I rather liked them :)
