Cancún (27 July - 3 August 2024)

Another summer vacation to Cancún on Mexico's touristy Yucatán Peninsular (our last trip here was two years ago), and another one consisting of several weeks of gallivanting around for Kristina and the girls while I stayed at home and worked! Such is her life as a travel agent, and our kids who are spoiled rotten. I joined them for their final week here, just enough time to chill at a couple different resorts.

Resort number one was the Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo, not actually in Cancún but close enough. This Iberostar property contains five separate hotels, and is so damn big it has regular 'buses' (basically big electric golf carts) to help commute you around. On the left is our bus stop haha!

The five hotels have access to all the usual good stuff: lots of awesome pools, a lazy river, water slides, great restaurants and bars, nightlife, and a great kids club (Siena's favorite hang). Oh and a good coffee shop. Gotta have a good coffee shop!

The architecture has a nice local vibe, including the central area of the shopping center on the right (yup, a hotel so huge it has its own shopping center, easily accessible by bus haha!).

Good beach too, but the seaweed is rather plentiful around here unfortunately.

Resort number two was the Hyatt Ziva at the top end of the main Cancún strip. This is the view of the main pool area and beach from our balcony. Hard to get sick of waking up to this!

The beautiful turquoise water that Cancún is famous for is thanks to the very shallow beaches and powdery white sand that reflects the sunlight back through the crystal clear water.

Our building had a mini jungle growing up through the center of it, and a large pool out the front that is home to six dolphins which you can pay to swim with. Can't say I'm a fan of that. It's a large pool for a human but hardly so for a dolphin.

Out the back is a whole other awesome pool area and beach. Good times!

And that was that for another vacation and another trip to Cancún. For next year (and beyond) we're talking about other destinations to mix it up, not that we don't love these beach trips but we're not sure the kids are aware that anything exists out there hehe.
